Singer, songwriter, and producer Junior Tecla is known as a performer with very strong stage-presence. Junior Tecla is the front man for the Holland based Rootsriders well known by their tribute to Tecla’s favorite artist, Bob Marley. The band plays in countries all over the world to sold-out crowds. But in recent years Tecla began to break out on his own genre named “Cura-Pop”, an alternative pop music with Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Although Tecla continuously travels between Curaçao and The Netherlands he feels at home with his music career in Curaçao where he is surrounded with people he loves to make music with. Junior is also very engaged to his community and youngsters. Therefore in 2011 he founded The Turtuga Foundation with the goal to help educate, empower and create opportunities for the community. One of the projects is the WifiPark at Oranjestraat. Junior wants to involve the neighbors and give them opportunities to participate in tourism.
